I am Angela Hadrill, an illustrator and painter based in Brighton.
I moved to Brighton 5 years ago to study Illustration at Brighton University and remained there after graduating. All of my paintings are created using watercolours and tend to incorporate plant life and the sea.
I find nature to be a constant source of inspiration, especially the idea of 'man-made' nature. Most of what one sees as nature has been created and curated and that reflects in my work; natural forms, purposefully placed, manipulated to establish a tame or idealised space.
Likewise, 'The Island' is a recurring theme I explore through my work. The narrative in my paintings often draws on stories of human relationships in this microcosm, where their inherent closeness heightens every exchange and interaction.
